About Me

What’s all this then?

This is the latest trial in the interminable history of hypertext experimentation by designer, developer, thinker, husband, dad & drummer Rustin Jessen.

Who are you?

My name is Rustin Jessen, and I’m just a guy living out a dream.

I hail from a smallish town in Utah near Salt Lake City, Utah.  I’m married to a wonderful woman who makes every day a fun new adventure. We have a cat who allows us to live in her house along with a dog and new-ish baby boy that we love.

[Noted for completeness: the cat in no way shares our love for the baby boy or dog. They are intruders who divert attention from her, and her food.]

[Noted for further completeness: Janey (my wife) does not share my love for the dog... she is more like the cat in this area... except she can curse out loud.]

What do you do?

I’m a former Disney Cast Member. Disney Entertainment Productions

I just finished a 6 year adventure with a company I love. I decided it was time to head out and spread my creative wings a little more independently.

Pardon my dust while I re-arrange this section.

Yes, but what do you actually do?

I’m sort of an in-house problem solver for Entertainment at Disneyland (part of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts). Since I slant geek, most of my projects end up, at least in part, on the web. I have a title that I never remember. If I have to introduce myself in front of groups these days, I usually just call myself the Entertainment Information Sharing Guy. I conceive, design & develop new, interesting & elegant ways to for our Cast Members and partners world-wide to share information & inspiration with each other… and with the world. (how’s that for a mouthful?)

My career path has afforded me the chance to learn many wonderful things, and to learn skills and techniques from some of the most talented people on the planet. I’ve been responsible for the design of many things both real and virtual, studio music as a musician and a studio owner/engineer, and live entertainment & event production.

While I’m happy to be gainfully employed by a company that I love. I have been known to do a bit of freelance work in the areas of live event production, design & web development.

Want me to do some thinking about your project? Send me an email.

As mentioned previously, this is not the first hypertext experiment to exist in this space. From July of 2004 to April of 2007 I blogged regularly to the acclaim of literally tens of readers. Those archives are no longer available, but I’ll pull out some favorite posts from time to time.
