So I guess it’s been a while since I actually blogged with something real. Well if you’re reading this, you must be bored to a degree that I never hope to be, so the least I could do is give you something semi interesting to read about.<\/p>\n

Lets start with work shall we?
\nAs you probably know, I’m filling a temporary spot in Talent Resources in TDA and so far it’s been a wonderful learning experience. While the actual work that I am doing is less then mentally stimulating, I’ve had a wonderful time meeting all the people in Entertainment up here who before now were simply names on email distribution lists. I now know a basic outline of how the hierarchy works up here. It still a bit of a mystery how a few folks got to be where they are\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s another conversation for another day.<\/p>\n

So my days are filled with creating files, and doing mini research projects. Sometimes my only job is to play with a BlackBerry handheld to find fun new tricks for my manager. I know that sounds stupid, but it’s probably the most fun job I have. The rest of my hours are basically acting as a glorified paper handler. I don’t even really work with the data that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s on the pages. Let me give you a quick rundown of the most common paper trail to cross my desk.<\/p>\n

  1. Talent Request comes to my desk\n
  2. I put it in a red folder with a blue card\n
  3. Red folder goes on manager’s desk\n
  4. Manager writes on the top corner and hands it back to me\n
  5. I transfer the data from the sheet into a database\n
  6. I make two photocopies of the sheet, and pass the red folder on to the Booking Agent\n
  7. I highlight selected information on each of the two copies and file them in a binder\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    And that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s about it. As you can see, there’s not much thought to it. It’s just a matter of getting the papers to interested parties quickly. Everyone around here waits till the last minute to complete things, and that puts us middle men in a crunch to make up for the lost time. Usually it’s doable, and I doubt they even notice that we’re doing it. But oh well. I guess it comes with the territory.<\/p>\n

    On par with my usual thing, I have found ways to take on little side projects for the department. I pitched a little idea for some database work that I think is going to take hold. They love the idea, and its just a matter of making sure it is financially feasible. After that I think it may secure me a good amount of work for the coming season. I’ve got my fingers crossed anyway.<\/p>\n

    I’m sure there is more to tell, but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all I can really think of right now. At least that all that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s really on my mind.<\/p>\n

    An now home life:
    \nThings are really good at home. What I love is I don’t have<\/strong> to spend too much of my day thinking about it. Things just sort of work. Janey and I are a really good team and we help each other out a lot. I will admit that a lot of times we get in each other’s way because we’re trying to be helpful. It’s annoying to no end, but I love it. Isn’t that strange? We drive each other nuts and love it.<\/p>\n

    OK so that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a pretty good update. I will talk more later today about my two really embarrassing experiences from yesterday.<\/p>\n
