Convoy

My wonderful wife is getting excited for her trip to WPPI in sunny and beautiful Las Vegas. Each day, as the event draws closer, I see various conversations and arrangements being swapped via Twitter. One such exchange about the upcoming drive down south prompted a little lunch-time conversation and I attempted to make a joke that fell flat on the kitchen floor as it left my lips.

It went something like this:

  • Her: They want to caravan down… what do you think?
  • Me: Sure, sounds good.
  • Her: What should I say?
  • Me: Just tell everybody “it looks like we got us a convoy”!
(in my best trucker radio voice)
  • Her:
  • Me: …*eyebrows*
  • Her:

It seems my wife has never been exposed to this integral piece of Americana. This must be remedied immediately.

Thankfully, she married a born-and-bred road trip lovin’, CB totin’, truck stop loiterin’ yokel who knows of such things.

And so, for you my dear wife. The origin of the phrase “Looks like we got us a convoy”.

You were asleep

  • Me: Nanna, why did you poop downstairs?
  • Nanna:
  • Me: Nanna?
  • Nanna:
  • Me: Nanna!!
  • Nanna: What?
  • Me: Why did you poop downstairs last night.
  • Nanna: My stomach was upset and you were asleep.
  • Me: You could have woken me up if it was an emergency.
  • Nanna: I didn’t want to wake you. You were already having a hard night with Gavin wailing so much. I tried to hold it… but just couldn’t.
  • Me: Well, I appreciate that, but I would have preferred you waking me up to cleaning up your poop from the carpet.
  • Nanna: I’m sorry.
  • Me: I know. Just wake me up next time, ok?
  • Nanna: Ok.
  • Me:
  • Nanna: Are there any bones left from the steaks on Sunday?
  • Me: Do you think that’s what gave you the runs?
  • Nanna: Maybe.
  • Me: No.

To return soon

Perhaps it was a mistake to launch a new site (with a blog) just before leaving town for a little side project. I haven’t had many free moments to write a proper blog post.

Rest assured, new readers, I’ll be back to a normal schedule soon that’ll lend itself much better to writing about wonderful things both online and off.

Thanks for hanging in there.

Poll – Next Magic in Type project

Help me decide on my next Magic in Type project

Trying to decide which Disneyland attraction should be the subject of my next “Magic in Type project should be. I’ve started on the Matterhorn Bobsleds, Main Streen Train Station and The Haunted Mansion… I love them all so much, I just need a little help deciding on which one to focus on.
