What a wonderful evening I just had. I have all kinds of pictures on my camera, but I just want to start typing before I’m too tired to do it. When I finally get the camera hooked up I will get some photos on for you.
My birthday was last week and my wonderful girlfriend asked me if we could do a little something to celebrate a week later. Now I don’t mind at all if we move any celebrations around. To be honest, my birthday has never been any real big thing to me. Fast forward to today and the festivities begin. All week I’ve been making Janey stick to her guns and not give away the surprise that she has been planning. You see she is notoriously bad at keeping secrets. It’s even so bad that last christmas neither of us could wait to give each other presents… so we opened them the day before christmas! 🙂
Anyway, so all last week she made sure that I didn’t plan anything on Sat. since I have no memory at all and have a tendency to let events in my life overlap one another. This usually happens because I don’t pay very close attention to schedules that aren’t work related. That is really kind of a funny thing. I actually plan for a living. I can pull off amazing things in tiny time constraints, and that takes a masterful grasp of logistics and planning. But my own life is a great big jumble. I don’t plan or remember when things are supposed to happen. I just go with the flow and things seem to turn out well. I guess it’s the same mentality of people who keep a very clean workspace but their homes are very messy.
We started our evening at Yamabuki Japanese Restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic! We normally go out for sushi about once a month but it’s been a little longer then that this time, so we were both ready to have something good here. We were not at all disappointed. Well… maybe. Janey said she liked our usual sushi place’s crunchy rolls a little better, but I couldn’t have been happier. Wonderful food, and superb service from a very nice Cast Member.
During dinner Janey let me in on the big secret she had in store. She first gave me a few fun little hints. First she pulled a little plush sorcerer mickey plush out of her bag so he could sit on the table and say hello. She said it was a hint and I knew immediately what we were doing. You see, since we met we’ve had a mutual love for Fantasmic! and that grew into a fondess for Mickey Mouse in his ‘Sorcerers Apprentice’ robe and enchanted wizards hat. To us… thats Fantasmic! Mickey. She then told me that we were doing something that I have been wanting to do since I moved here. She had made arrangements for Premium Seating with a dessert buffet. Not only were we going to see our favorite show, but we would be eating scrumptious little treats all the while.
Before we left Yamabuki though, she had one more surprise. Out of her bag came something that should be in every Disneyland fan’s collection, but somehow hadn’t found it’s way into mine. It was a standard black pair of Mickey ears with my name hand embroidered on the back. I was touched and giddy all at once when I donned my black ears and headed off for Disneyland.
We took a leisurely walk through the Grand Californian Hotel, into Down Town Disney, and onto the Monorail for a one-way-trip into the Magic Kingdom. I’m going to fast forward through our trek through a very crowded park to when we were seated for the show.
There was a small table filled with AMAZING little treats. White chocolate dipped biscotti, giant strawberries that were perfectly ripened before being dipped in milk chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate, jelly filled sugar cookie things, and Mickey shaped rice crispy treats dipped in chocolate. There were other things there that I don’t even know the name for… but they were all sweet and wonderful.
Once our plates were full, an incredibly nice Cast Member took our drink order (Coke and Diet Coke as usual) and we were left to enjoy our little plated bits of heaven. At 5 minutes to show time we had finished up our treats and we were ready to be entertained. The Side Street Strutters finished up a great set from the raft and the night was proving to be just wonderful.
Our favorite show played itself out over the river, still giving me the same chills it did when I first saw it. Then a great viewing of ‘Remember…Dreams come true” (the new fireworks show) and it was time to head home.
Just so wonderful. There is so many details I left out by going to quickly… maybe when I get the photos up, I will fill out the text a bit. but for now it’s bed time.
Thanks so much for a wonderful night Janey. I love you.
What a wonderful evening for the “King” of the Disney fan club! Bravo to Janey for putting together such a perfect evening!!! No wonder you love her!
