Questions of the Universe
Have you ever been consumed by an unanswered question. Questions about physics, pyscology, the universe or maybe you’ve always wondered how much chocolate syrup it would take to cover the kitchen floor. Well we deal with these inspiring questions on a regular basis. And luckily I’m surrounded by little Einstiens who are not only capable of thinking up such awe inspiring ingenious questions of the universe but they are willing and able even compelled to find the answers.
I have an event tonight that’s shaping up to be a stresser. There’s a guy who was supposed to take the reigns on a few things that just kind of dissapeared when all the planning was getting done, so I’m a little worried that his bits aren’t in place.
In the end though… I just have to remember that all these events are going to go off wether I get involved or not. Since they are Disney events the client is usually quite happy and all is well. I just get a little bugged when my parts are planned well and others aren’t. (take a breathe rustin… and shut up)
Ok so.. in other news I’ve been picking up a fair ammount of web work. Several sites from a few different sources. I know it’s a lot of extra time to spend… but I enjoy doing it. I hope Janey isn’t hating it too bad. I do spend quite a bit of time on the computer these days. Most of it is just reading about what others have done so I can borrow ideas. In fact there is some really great articles about that very thing by Cameron Moll. He’s a really talented designer who actually lives in Springville from what I can tell. (if your one of my out-of-utah friends thats a town a ways south of Salt Lake near BYU.
Alright. Now that you’ve got some things to read… I will let you go. I’m sure I will be posting about this event tonight.
Tonight I’m just sitting around watching the polls. I’ve got the FOX, CNN, CBS, ABC, and Google News sites up in windows on three monitors. I know that even if I didin’t own a TV or computer that I would get the same news in the morning… but I am totally addicted. I just love to hear the news as it’s coming in. It kind of reminds me of working in the news room at KSL in Salt Lake. It was super stress but quite fun.
And… if I wasn’t watching I never would have seen Shepard Smith belch mid sentance by accident. My diet coke came out my nose.
Viva GW!
Till next time (when we’ll know who the president will be)
I’ve gotten in this groove of staying up late and messing with my site. I know I should be in bed but I just can’t get my brain to settle down. So… as you can see my site has seen yet another re-design. This new design has (so far) only affected the blog section, but I have a feeing it will be moving into the rest of the site very soon. Maybe sometime in the near future I could actually use my site as a decent showcase of what I can do. For now however I will focus my major efforts on the paying gigs.
If you have some time please drop a comment and let me know what you like or don’t like about this new design.
So in addition to the research I did on the history of Halloween, tonight was a night for creative decoration. It was all inspired by my wonderful girlfriend. She had the idea to carve pumpkins and make sure the kids in the apartment complex knew we had candy to share.
As you can see we started out with a blank canvas just like the rest of the world, and we were going t make some magic.
Last night Janey and I (with another couple) traveled down to Long Beach. Our destination… The RMS Queen Mary. Our tickets, however, read “Shipwreck”. Each year in October the grounds surrounding this beautiful ship are turned into a wasteland of plywood and churro carts to entertain an odd mix of couple and hyper teens for the Halloween holiday.
We really thought this was going to be freaky. Not too long ago Janey and I visited my parents who were actually staying at the Queen Mary. We walked the decks and read all the information posted on this ‘Self Guided Tour’. It was really fascinating. This ship has the most amazing history, and along with that comes all kinds of creepy stories relating the true events from the ships past. There is even an official tour on the ship called ‘Ghosts and Legends’ that delves into some of these stories while visiting some of the supposedly haunted sites on the ship. We thought that Shipwreck would be a lot like that with added effects and stuff. But we were quite disappointed. They took this wonderful canvas and completely wasted it. …. let me just walk you through it.
Upon arrival we parked and walked toward the ship where a mass of people was standing around. Seeing the security guard checking for tickets let us know this was the spot to start our journey. This was actually just the beginning of the line to actually get in. We waited in this line until we got up to the security checkpoint. this is where I need to take a little tangent
When we were getting ready to leave Janey asked if I brought the camera… I didn’t. I wasn’t really planning on it. But it did sound like a good idea to bring it along. We don’t have a lot of pictures of the stuff we do. So I threw it over my shoulder. When we got up the security checkpoint the guard asked me to open my bag. He said “no cameras” and looked at me. I was waiting for him to direct me somewhere, but instead he just looked at me. I said “should I take it back to my car” and he nodded still looking at me. I had a line of about a billion people behind me and there was no way to get out. Finally I just turned around and pushed past the folks waiting in line and ran back to the car. OK now the story can get back on track. Continue reading ShipWreck→
